The grounds of the Apache Point Observatory are open to the public during daylight hours only. The site staff is small so, unfortunately, it is not possible to visit inside the buildings.
The observatory occasionally offers site open houses for the public.
There is a small Visitors Center at the nearby Sunspot Solar Observatory, unfortuantely, as of early 2026, this is temporarily closed.
