Sample MaxIm DL Observing Scripts
Some of our users are taking long time series observations on a single target. These users science objectives can not tolerate the extra deadtime between exposures or extra overhead that is added by ACP. Therefore we provide those users with a method to bypass ACP control and run a simple observing script directly through MaxIm DL. Here are three examples available to these users. Modifification are needed to specify target coordinates, target name, exposure times, and desired filters. Once you have created your script, rename it with a '.vbs' suffix and the Observing Specialist can instruct you how to upload the file. You will need to coordinate with them for starting the script.
WARNINGS: These scripts do not compensate for pointing offsets. We recommend you point to you target first using ACP to determine the pointing offset and then add these offsets to these script coordinates. Use care with sequence numbers and naming of files. No provision is in place to safe guard against the over writing of files.
